200 ACRE PROPERTY NOW IN PLACE:
.
The Mayor of Las Vegas; former City Councilman Larry Brown (right), and the entire LV City Council felt so strongly about the Las Vegas Railroad Society's tireless efforts to create a 'Railroad Heritage Park' for our local community, that it was unanimously decided to provide the necessary 200 acre property for this important community project. Picture to the right: Larry Brown was very concerned how the economic downspin will affect this project, yet, serious team efforts between the former Councilman and our organization enable us now to focus 100% on creating this long overdue and much needed Field Trip Mecca for over 400,000 students of our local schools/ RJ Press Release |

This Smithsonian-type 'Railroad Heritage Park' project already receives world-wide attention.
Today's generation truly wants to know about Las Vegas' entire railroad history and how it all began; and tomorrow's generations need to know!
|
OUR ENVISIONED GOALS:
.
|
Once created, the 'Railroad Heritage Park' addition shall become a living memorial of the railroad's contribution to Las Vegas; demonstrating the tremendous impact the railroad had on our city's growth; and it will become the caretaker of Las Vegas' and southern Nevada's entire railroad history. It is the privilege, responsibility, and driving goal of the Las Vegas Railroad Society to bring education to life.
Walk back in time to 1906 where Nevada, a state only 42 years old, witnessed the first steam locomotive's arrival. Las Vegas' new 'Railroad Heritage Park' will bustle with all the authentic sights depicted within the Gilded-Progressive Age of Nevada's railroad and mining history. This era was selected as a tribute to industrial ingenuity, paired with the pioneer entrepreneurial spirit for which Nevada is known.
Today's generation will once again experience the full impact of unbridled free enterprise, the triumph of cutting the time of a cross country trip from 6 months to ten days, and what lessons apply to ultimately benefit our current societal landscape as a whole.
LAS VEGAS' LIVE STEAM ERA OF THE PAST SOON COMING ALIVE!
Live size railroad equipment & memorabilia to be displayed in Las Vegas' official Railroad Museum inside the Railroad Heritage Park. Plus...
ALONG-SIDE LIFE SIZE TRAIN DISPLAYS - MOVING SMALL SCALE TRAINS: Las Vegas' entire live steam era will be reenacted with 1/3rd and 1/8th scaletrain rides throughout the city-provided 200 acre park. This project is one of Las Vegas' most unique and one-of-a-kind cultural additions and the property is located in the north west side of Las Vegas; and small scale demonstration trains will travel between Buffalo Rd & Rampart Rd. (Find out more at our Meetup!)
HANDS-ON FIELD TRIP MECCA - FOR ALL LOCAL STUDENTS: The park will be a very disciplined, safe and educational environment offering a unique, nostalgic and family-oriented atmosphere with year-round educational children & youth-oriented program activities; keeping Las Vegas' children interested; off the streets, and simply on the 'right track'.
