Former Las Vegas Mayor and the entire LV City Council felt so strongly about the Las Vegas Railroad Society's tireless efforts to create a 'Railroad Heritage Park' for our local community, that it was unanimously decided to provide the necessary property for this very important community project.
Today's generation wants to know everything
about Las Vegas' live steam era!
And tomorrow's generations need to know!
The LVRRS will demonstrate all of it, in more ways than one!

COMMITTED TO LAS VEGAS' CHILDREN:
Former Ward 4 City Councilman Larry Brown (now County Commissioner) was instrumental in the successful city-approved and provided 200 acre property agreement between the Las Vegas City Council & the LVRRS, in order to create Las Vegas' new addition of a one-of-a-kind 'Railroad Heritage Park' with an opportunity of year-round-active education for all students of our local schools, as also for all local children groups' special needs children, and for the benefit of the entire community. 'RAILROAD HERITAGE PARK' - RE-ENACTMENT OF LAS VEGAS' ENTIRE RAILROAD HISTORY....
Once open, the centrally-located 'Railroad Heritage Park' will bustle with all the authentic sights depicted within the Gilded-Progressive Age of Nevada's railroad and mining history. This era was selected as a tribute to industrial ingenuity, paired with the pioneer entrepreneurial spirit for which Nevadans are known. Beautiful old-world architecture will embrace park guests in the future Railroad Heritage Park.
The 15 acre Mining Town museum facilities inside our park's canyon will provide cool and educational indoor activities which everyone will seek out during hot summer months.

TRAINS WITH A PURPOSE:
Once open, it would be difficult for our park visitors to see the railroad museum, mining museum facility, Victorian Botanical Garden, and other educational facilities on foot, therefore museum guests will be able to visit all future cultural facilities all throughout the 200 acre city-provided park properties by train!

A COMMUNITY PARK FOR ALL: The new 'Railroad Heritage Park' will also be the home of a huge N/W side art center, to be enjoyed by local artisans, families and the community.
TRAIN EXCURSIONS: The day will arrive when comfortable small scale live-steam powered public trains will haul school children, special needs children and the public throughout the 200 acre park properties, reenacting 'long' steam powered train journey of yesteryear.
MINING MUSEUM: These train excursions will include a very special train route to the west-side's 15 acre canyon to visit the LVRRS' 'Western Mining Town' to take advantage of a future Mining Museum tour; as also educational underground mining excursions; a mining library; video presentations; mining exhibits and hands-on learning for all..
SUMMER ACTIVITY: The mining town will also include a huge indoor HO train layout facility with detailed mining-theme scenery in miniature, plus so much more, all for the purpose of education. The entire 'Western Mining Town' will remind everyone, that there is a lot to be said about the 'Silver State' of Nevada.
EDUCATION - EDUCATION - EDUCATION: Las Vegas' Railroad Heritage Park will be known as utmost disciplined, safe and highly educational institution with youth-oriented in and outdoor educational program activities, designed, to keep Las Vegas' children interested, off the streets, and simply on the 'right track'.
