LAS VEGAS RAILROAD SOCIETY'S LOCATION & FUTURE FACILITIES

The city provided this property with unanimous 'YES' vote to the LVRRS; and it is located in the northwest portion of the Las Vegas valley. This is no doubt Las Vegas' most important educational cultural center in history, and will soon offer to our community a 20+ acre educational botanical garden; educational 1/3rd scale 200 acre railroad park and various educational museums.

The area is part of the master plan community of Summerlin designed by Mr. Howard Hughes, a well know figure in our cities growth. Summerlin is a 23,400 acre (94.6 km²) planned community being built by The Howard Hughes Corporation (now an affiliate of General Growth Properties) in southern Nevada, along the western rim of the Las Vegas Valley near the Spring Mountains and Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. It includes a variety of land uses, including: Residential, commercial, recreational, educational, medical, open space, and religious. As of December 2003, Summerlin's population was 84,350.

The railroad park property embraces Angel park, Angel Park Golf Course, LV Sports Park, Kellogg's Zaher Sports Complex, Darling Tennis Ctr., Detention Basin Area. / The cultural center and botanical garden will be constructed on the Durango Rd. property.
