TRAINS
|
"The Las Vegas Railroad Society will always be on the look-out for students who have a yearning to one day follow the Las Vegas Railroad Society's master machinist's footsteps.
Children with constructive and creative hobbies have a tendency to stay out of trouble!" Says Trudy Platzer, President & CEO, "it truly keeps them on the right track!" |
TRAIN SIZES
The Las Vegas Railroad Society will use mostly real live-steam, and some diesel powered trains. Overall we are considering all train sizes from 'N' scale to 'HO' scale / 'O' scale / Possibly, garden railroad 'G' scale / Possibly even 1 inch scale / For certain 1.5 inch scale and 2.5 inch scale / all the way to 5 inch (1/3rd) scale.

PREPARING THE TRAINS TO HAUL THE PUBLIC.
As this sample picture demonstrates, each 5" scale train at the future Railroad Heritage Park will haul children and adults throughout the 200 acre property. We are looking forward to provide special railroad cars for wheelchair bound individuals.
TRAIN SIZE - EXAMPLE #2:
1.5" SCALE TRAINS: Railroad park volunteers will run and also display their locomotives and trains as 'demonstration trains' enabling the public to see a big variety of live steam powered trains, steam powered locomotives & diesel locomotives, and even battery powered trolleys in various sizes and models, as for example: Check out this 1.5" scale model, the 1.5" scale Union Pacific Challenger #3977, custom built with museum quality precision by our LVRRS Co-Founder. FAMILY VENTURES: Who says women don't like to run trains?
YOUTH PROGRAM ACTIVITIES
Just think about it for a moment, what a marvelous way to draw attention from our local youth at the future Railroad Heritage Park. Viewing a huge variety of 1.5" and 2.5" scale train models in the park demonstrate clearly that many men and women from all around our valley appreciate live steam. Actually, folks throughout the nation and all around the world are fascinated by steam powered trains, no matter what the size; and many of these individuals started in the railroad hobby in one way or another when they were in their youth.
We will always seek out technically inclined young people of today and of tomorrow, teaching them the craft of machining and teach all our local children, the community and tourists the railroad history behind it all.
